We hosted an awesome Developer Evening on an icy cold night in November. Brendon Page, Elmans Van Wyk and Simon Stewart kept our audience on their toes with interesting topics on Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and Augemented Reality.
Despite the rainy weather we had a great turnout, with many new faces coming through to join us. The first 15 guests to arrive even won themselves an awesome Warewolf T-shirt. We had inspiring and interesting speakers Richard Gevers, Pivendren Naik, Gordon Beeming and Brent Samodien keeping us well entertained.
The community event has become so popular, last night we had over of 100 developers join us. With Leon Rajindrapersadh and Mark Whitfield addressing our local Dev's on F# and Test Drive Development.
This was our second Dev2 Dev Evening this year and a great success! We saw over a hundred new and familiar faces join us for the evening. I always love packing the room with a bunch of passionate people. The presentations were all exceptional, in spite of some technical glitches with a faulty HDMI adapter!
We hosted another successful Developer Evening. We were lucky to get such great speakers both from the community, our guest speakers from the Joburg Centre for Software Engineering and our very own Product Owner. The evening kicked off with a presentation by Barney Buchan on Warewolf.
As a company we aim to run three to four community events annually. There seems to be so little happen in Durban yet there are a lot of developers who want regular events. The dedication is so big that some developers form Durban will travel all the way to Jo’burg for a coderetreat.
Calling all software developers! Dev2, a dynamic software development company based in Hillcrest, will be hosting its third Developer Evening at its offices on Wednesday, 13 November 2013. These sessions are becoming a regular feature for the Durban developer community as they provide a unique opportunity for role players in the industry to share best practices and expertise.
